You should never shop at Walmart. It puts little black marks on your soul every time you do.

PetSmart has a better selection anyway.

Petsmart. They carry better brands like Nutro and Science Diet, and that makes such a difference for your pet. Or if you have reptiles or fish or something, the people there tend to know a little more about what they are doing and can help recommend things. I do buy cat litter at Walmart if I'm there but its only 50 cents cheaper then Petsmart. Petsmart is more convenient also.

Most pet store chains will have a wider variety of pet products, but it also depends on what you're looking for.
Food dishes, litter pans for cats, litter and some bedding you can buy at Walmart no problem. I would not buy any kind of food at Walmart however, except maybe fish food. For one, Walmart doesn't always have a really high turnover so the food is likely to be old and secondly the kinds of pet foods Walmart carries are of questionable quality at best. For instance, Walmart carries ferret food now, made by 8in1. 8in1 is the maker of some fine ferret foods, like ULTIMATE, but the stuff Walmart carries is really really bad. The same goes for some of their cat and dog foods. So it's up to the pet owner to inform him/herself to see what's good and what's not.
I have three sources for all my pet supplies, Walmart(because where I live that's the only store available), Internet(because it's usually cheaper and you can find just about anything) and then there's pet stores (if I'm already going to the cities and I really need something). There are three cities within driving range of me, but they're all an hour or more away.

Petsmart. Walmart, although a good store, has limited pet supplies. I mean, Petsmart is just a pet store they are bound to have much more stock.

Petsmart 'cuz that's smart. XD Walmart do have pet food but Petsmart sell healthier pet food for your dog. Personally I buy at my dogs vet. but not all vets sell dog food. Petsmart is the better choice.

Both are pretty cruddy stores.

Petsmart overcharges for everything and sells tons of products that are unsafe for animals. They also sell small animals that come from small animal mills. I don't want to support the milling of small animals when there are so many dying in shelters.

Walmart has bad corporate policies, also sells inappropriate products for animals, and has even less selection.

Try finding a pet store near you that doesn't sell animals but carries supplies.

Oh PetSmart absoultly! No offense to walmart because its my favorite store but petsmart is for pets. walmart has a few things here and there, but you might not find everything you need. petsmart is defintly my first choice for pets products because they specialize in pets. Good luck!!
