There are no 'silly" or dumb questions! If one doesn't know the answer then the intelligent thing to do, is ask! I can understand where one might become confused, as the reason for ones period is so closely tied to pregnancy. But the answer is, yes.

The uterus prepares each month, a "bed" for the fertilized egg to implant in and grow, If the "bed" is not used, it is sloughed off as your period. The uterus has no way of detecting whether or not a fertilized ovum will be deposited, so goes about preparing for it.

You keep asking questions It is a sign of inteligence, to want to know the correct answer!!

Yes you can. Being infertile has nothing to do with period, actually just a little. It has everything to do with ovulating. Producing and releasing an egg from the ovary. If this isn't happening this is why you would be infertile. Your body having a period just is a cycle it goes through. Getting ready for a pregnancy each month. But if there is no egg/sperm to fertilize then no pregnancy happens and a period comes.

Sterility is when a man does not produce sperm not a woman being infertile.

The best way to find out if you don't ovulate is use an ovulatin kit, have some blood tests done to see if you are ovulating. That is the best way to find out.

Hope this helps some...

Yes the only way to stop having a period is to have a hysterectomy. I've had my tubes tied but I still have periods.... doesn't seem fair to still have periods if you cant have kids but i guess that's how it is.
