I have an ipod with video, and I think that all ipods require you to send it into the company for a battery replacement. YOU CANNOT REPLACE THEM ON YOUR OWN! Batteries should last at minimal a year and fade over time with use - a bad battery does not last long. If its not working suddenly its probably something else. Mine stop responding and wouldn't charge about a month ago and all I had to do was update my itunes and it fixed itself. Open Itunes and go to ipod help under the help menu and their website has all sorts of troubleshooting tips. If I were you I wouldn't let anyone touch yours - I have two sisters and siblings suck - protect your electronics !

That will ruin yours. Tell your dad not to do it. Yes, the battery can go dead or bad. Every year or two the charge will not work anymore or as good as it used to. Contact apple to replace it. It should be cheap or free. Good luck!

VERY bad idea.

Take it to the apple store or call Apple Care and they will sort it out.

Yes, it will erase your songs

Hook her iPod up to the computer and let it charge, see if that helps.
