I went to CVS over the holiday weekend, and there was a VERY long line at the pharmacy. There was a man looking very disgruntled in line. He had about 5 Hallmark cards in his hand. When he got up to the register, he got his prescription, paid for that, then hid the cards behind the bag and walked out...

How could he do that on Christmas... and stealing gifts no less? He was well dressed, not a bum by any means, in a nice town too...

I can see it now...

Jesus: "Welcome new candidate! Do you wish to go to heaven or hell?"
Man: "Heaven please! I have been a great Christian my whole life!"
Jesus: "Now you will be judged!" (drumroll in background)
Jesus: "Well now, you stole Christmas cards to send to everyone in my name? Shame on you! AND you commited 15983234 acts of extreme violence by refusing and rejecting gays and Muslims and your fellow man and trying to convert people off the streets."
Angels: "Such a dirty soul..."
Jesus: "What to do? This soul is not redeemable... Off to the Lake of Fire with you! Let your soul be instantly destroyed!"
Man: "Noo! Have mercy! I did it all for you, Jesus!"
Jesus: "What, expoused Hatred and Violence? Stole in the my name? Begone, oh burnt spirit!"

Don't let appearances fool you. For too many people, the more they have the more they think everything should be given to them. You will find that the truly generous are more often the poor than the rich because they give out of their need. The man you speak of has need for one thing, a conscience. Live according to your standards and you will be happy. Don't let the turkeys get you down.

Could he have been "disgruntled" or preoccupied and simply forgotten to pay for them? Shouldn't the checkout person have noticed 5 cards in his hand before he had the bag in it?

Honey, it takes all kinds!
I found this out working in retail. We had a wealthy lady who would steal $1.00 items and check out with over $200.00 worth of merchandise. If we called her on the petty thefts, she would grab her purse and head to th e bathroom, and unload the dollar items along the way; then return to the checkout wondering what all the fuss is about. I hated to see her coming, because I did not like to follow her around.

How do you know he didn't pay for them at the front register before picking up the prescription?

Personally I would have called him on it, loud and clear in front of the whole store full of people. My family hates shopping with me, I'm rather opinionated and not shy.
