He certainly deserves to be punished for what he has done to others. Whether that punishment includes death is not for me to say. Our government handed him over to his own people. The powers that be in Iraq have determined that to be his punishment and the United States has nothing to do with it. If he does not pay for what he has done in this life, he most certainly will in the next one.

I think the kangaroo court should be disbanded and/or George Bush should stand trial alongside him. Then again, it's no wonder that so many here are salivating at the prospect of a death sentence being carried out, when they parrot what they've heard without bothering with facts. As the article reported, he was sentenced for 148 deaths after an assassination attempt, and is CHARGED with genocide in the deaths of Kurds. The latter would be hard to prosecute in a real court of justice, considering that the Kurds in question were attempting to overthrow a government, that said government was supported at the time by the United States, and that the gassing was performed under U.S. auspices and with U.S. assistance, and was associated with a war that the U.S. helped to bring about and was instrumental in. Hussein almost certainly deserves the death sentence, but the thirst for blood and the readiness with which some people abandon the concepts of justice Americans like to be known for is truly disgusting.

Well, I think he does deserve to die because he killed so many people. But since we live in a civilized society, I think we should be more humane and kill him in a way that doesn't make him suffer, even though he probably deserves to suffer.
But hanging is not as bad as you think it is. The person only suffers for a long time if it isn't done properly, but if you hang someone the right way, their neck snaps and they die instantly, so it's not really a slow or tortureous death.

My dear.
I can't judge that he should die or not cause I ain't sure that he did committed the crime...only the people in Iraq can decide that.
Doesn't matter what we think of the way he should die cause hanging is the only Iraqi think is proper way and honor way if they come to execution....depending on local laws....
Just like even in USA, some States want electrocute and some State don't go for injection....I should stay out of it cause it not our job to think about that....let's enjoy Christmas and new year.

I personally do not agree with hanging but I am not an Iraqi. It takes 8 minutes for a person to die from hanging. People around the world would disagree with me but that is OK.

Saddam Hussein wasn't worse then many other heads of Middle Eastern states. In fact he developed Iraq and turned it into the modern state it is today. He is also known, unlike Mad Albright, as someone who has gratitude towards people who helped him during his childhood (such as Naim Tawina). So no, he shouldn't be executed at all.

The sentence of hanging had a purpose. In their society, a noble is executed by firing squad. Hanging is a peasant's death. It is a calculated insult to Saddam's pride. In my opinion, they should've dropped a grenade on him in his hiding hole and put the cover back on.

A bullet in the head or hanging is just fine. Maybe they should give him some gas like he did to so many others. Then they could watch him wither in agony like the poor people he killed.

I agree that Saddam must be executed for his crimes against humanity. I do believe that he should have the right to be killed by firing squad as he wishes. Saddam considers himself a soldier, firing squads are the preferred method for soldiers, hanging is reserved for criminals. I believe it is petty to deny him this.

In this world, you reap what you sew. When he ws doing what he wanted to do, I am so sure he didn't see this coming. As a matter of fact, he still doesn't seem remorseful. Your name is faith & patience, read the bible, you will find plenty of examples of how God himself punished groups of people; those that worshipped Him and those that didn't.
