I had the same problem and the repair was to change the thermostat. When the dealer took out the OLD ONE, it looked perfect. Its hard to check it out of the car and the $12.00 replacement was worth it. Now I get heat in 2 miles and the indicator goes to the middle once again. Also, I have good heat.

Be sure to drain the cooling system. Remove the spark plug wire harness from the thermostat bypass pipe & it should be right there under the bypass pipe.
