Altima wiper problem?

The driver side wiper of my altima stopped working and the passenger one works fine. I think the arm fell off inside the cowl box but I have no idea how to exactly remove it. Could anyone diagnose this problem for me and tell me how to remove the cowl box and repair it?

first check to see if wiper arm is still tight,if so remove both wiper arms then remove screws for wiper cowl ,then remove the cowl.
you should be able to buy the arm that fell off at the dealer.it will have new plastic caps in it.if you can,t buy just the bad arm,it will be cheaper to buy the whole wiper transmission at a salvage yard
