What are you looking to do? If you've picked up a virus, spyware or the like, a restore will NOT fix it. Then it would be best to completely re-format your PC.

What's your reason for restoring the original settings?

Two methods. One, put in the Windows or Factory Restore disc and reboot, follow the prompts. Two, click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and choose the last menu item System Restore. It has a simple wizard and will show you a calendar of dates it took snapshots of your computer periodically. The advantage of this of course you won't have to reload printer drivers, games, etc. Best of luck
