If you are in a situation where you can take him to the doctor you probably should.

If you are unable to go to a doctor keep ice on the injured area as much as possible for the next 24 to 48 hours. Treat the pain with fairly small doses of an over the counter pain reliever that your son is able to tolerate.

Keep the arm immobilized, i.e. don't let him move it up and down. Keep a close eye on it.

Good luck and happy holidays.

you could attempt the potato trick. i'm desirous to interrupt my arm yet i pass to anticipate my basketball season to end, with the aid of fact i think you could no longer have something to do this could make you permit out out on issues, given which you won't be able to do lots. The potato trick is a million) decrease a potato 2) carry potato to wrist 3) get a spoon 4) bang on wrist or Arm 5) proceed ... Any swelling ? Now Say your wrist hurts (if swollen) & then VOILA You broke Your arm or wrist.

If it still hurts have a Doctor check it there could be a tiny fracture and if you leave it to long it could cause problems alway better to safe with children never take a chance on their health. One other thing if you let it go to long they may think your a bad parent don't let that happen have the child's wrist looked at.

Unless you have a medical background, you can't treat him. The best you could do is to diagnose the injury. Have him checked out by a doctor ASAP just to make sure he didn't fracture his wrist. Maybe it's just a sprain, but you certainly can't tell. Get to a doctor!

Since there is NO way to know if it's fractured or not without an xray, you HAVE to take him to the doctor. You should have taken him yesterday. Everyone responds to injuries differently. Just because he didn't scream and carry on doesn't mean it isn't at least fractured.

You have to take him to the doctor. My son was 7 when he broke his arm, same thing. He could move it and it wasn't swollen, but he said it hurt. I waited 2 days and then took him just to be sure, and yup, it was broken. (I felt horrible). It doesn't have to be dangling - hair line fractures can hurt just as much as compound fractures. (BTW - he broke his arms 3 times after that - you gotta love rambuncious (sp?) boys). Good luck.

If you leave it untreated it could effect the arm as it continues to grow. It could be as simple as a greenstick fracture. Yet a 9 year olds bones are not fully developed and if not treated properly, and allowed to heal. It can effect his arm's growth.
