You are very right-misery does love company. They just want to see others suffer too so they won't be the only ones.

Lol, that's a very cynical view...of course it's probably true in some cases, but perhaps its because they're happy and assume that other people need to be with someone in order to be happy. Remember that every person is different and every person needs something different, but not everyone realises that.

I am very happy being single and I'm not looking to find someone at the moment, but I have friends who's only ambition seems to be to find a "significant other" and they keep on and on trying to convince me that I need someone. They don't seem to get it. But that's not because misery loves company, it's because they're my friends and they want me to be happy, and they assume that what makes them happy will do the same for me.

My children make me so much happier than anything else in the whole world ever could. I feel sorry for people who can't experience that amount of joy. The love I have for my children is so much stronger than love could ever be for anyone else - a grandma, nephew, whatever - and you can't know what it's like before it actually happens.

I don't try to convince people to have kids if they don't want them, but maybe this is what the people whom you are referring to are thinking.

There can be true happiness found in marriage, but it's a lot of hard work. Even when my husband pissed me off, I'd still rather be with him than without him. But hey - marriage and kids is not for everybody....

I don't try to convince singles to do anything. I was married, and divorced, and am not remarried - this time to the right guy. And quite happy actually. So, not only am I not miserable, but I don't feel the need to preach to any of my friends about what is right for them.

I don't! I've been married 14 years, 2 kids and I know how hard it is so I always advise people to make sure they are really ready - don't rush into having kids, enjoy your free time AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! And if you don't think marriage or kids are for you then DON'T do it - after all you know yourself better than anybody!

The Bible indicates that being single helps us to focus our talents on God. Being married takes that focus and shifts it to spouses and kids. Focus on what's important and not on what others expect of you.

The same reason why people of faith insist that those without it need it. They just don't understand that life can be just as fulfilling by living it in a different way.
