I am battling the same issue. It feels like I have an over active adrenaline gland. The slightest thing will make me jump or send my heart beating like crazy. I heard this feeling put best by the comedian Steven Wright. When asked how he feels Steven Wright responded something like this. "You know the feeling you get when you lean too far back in a chair and catch yourself just before falling? Well I feel like that all the time." This issue is in our minds, completely. We can fix this by putting ourselves in the situations which precede the anxiety response.
