I think it's a marketing trick. A 12 year old girl feels more grown up wearing a juniors XS instead of a girls 14, even though they may be the same size. I remember being so excited to wear a size 2 instead of girls 14/16. Misses and juniors clothes cost more than girls clothes. So, people buy girls XS or S and pay more than they would for girls clothes. In college, my friends and I would go to a big outlet department store and would buy a ton of clothes at once. My one friend was tiny and would shop in the girls dept while the rest of us went to misses. Overall, my tiny friend would save a ton of money shopping in the girls dept compared to the rest of us. Another good marketing question is why does a misses size 2 cost the same price as a misses size 16? But, that's a whole different topic.

Well, factories make S, M, Large usually.....
S for small, M for medium.
or they make xtra large.
It is just routine for the factories.
