There are a bunch of possible things that are going on here. Is it going into standby and then shutting down? Is it shutting down in the middle of doing something? Are the fans running? Have you ran a virus check? Just some things to start with. Cheers

A shut-down is quite likely to be virus-related; if it was temperature-related, it would freeze instead.

Try downloading either AVG or Avast! free from the net, update it and give it a run. Also try Ad-Aware SE Personal, and SpyBot Search & Destroy, free too, to sort out any spyware. ONLY have one anti-virus running at a time, otherwise they'll fight each other.

windows automatically shuts down to stop any damage to hardware or the operating system
this can happen in such circumstances as overheating or fualty hardware
however you can overide this by going to start>control panel>system properties>advanced>start up and recovery>then untick the box "automatically restart"
this will stop any future restarts, but will put your hardware at risk if this is the cause of the problem
so you must check all system fans, including the cpu fan
happy xmas

true most of the time it is temperature but is should not just shut down insted it should freez. to test theis theory, just remove the side pnel of the computer and leave it exposed. if it still does the same then its something else, it could be a virus if you ask me i am leaning more to a virus.

Pull the PC out of its "hole" in the desk and run it. if that works then its the temp
