PLEASE try these 3 remedies...EVERY time I feel run-down or get that tickly feeling in my throat I take these 3 things and it NEVER turns into a full-blown cold.
1) Olive Leaf Extract by "Herb Pharm"....it's in liquid form, and has no side effects...it immediately goes to work to kill any viruses in you...and it's all natural.
2) "JarrowDophilus", by "Jarrow Formulas"...it will keep the healthy "flora" in your body in perfect balance which keeps your immune system strong.
3) "Emergen-C" Vitamin C packets by "Alacer"
All three can be purchased at "Whole Foods Market", possibly "Trader Joe's", or call your local health food store to inquire about these two products.
EVERY friend and family member who has taken this advice, hardly ever gets sick.

My first suggestion for you would be to drink water a lot, maybe more than you think enough. Beside water, apple or orange juice may be okay, but no pop, coffee, nor liquire. This idea is what I got from a friend of nurse when I had the similar condition as you described.
I also wondered if you have gotten sinus infection. If so, I would really suggest you to go to see your doctor and get a proper medication by her/him. When I got sinus infection, my physician's prescribed medication worked while over the counter med didn't work at all. I'm sure that seeing a doctor costs and/or relates to insurance issue, so, it's really up to you, though. Bother meds, however, are not like a med for headache and would require a while for you to get better. So, being patient while taking a med and trying to have a rest more than moving around...
Hope you feel better soon and be able to spend holidyas well!

Try to stay away from medicine. It just masks the symptoms and some say it takes you longer to recover. If you really have to, take a couple of aspirin. Drink lots of liquids. Stay in bed. Take this opportunity to catch up on your reading. There is a tea called "throat coat" that really helps.

NyQuil isn't the same as it used to be...it doesn't contain a decongestant anymore. Try Sudafed...not the PE stuff....the real deal...ask the pharmacist for a box of the 12 hour. It worked wonders for me 2 weeks ago when I was sick. Drink lots of juices, and get plenty of sleep.
