I'm not sure what causes it but one of the things that can eliminate or decrease it : take sage herbal form.

This can by a signal of serious problems (if you've already checked the obvious, such as overheating of your bedroom). sweats refer to any excess sweating occurring during the night.
It can be a sign of infection, such as tuberculosis, endocarditis, or HIV.
Night sweats are an early symptom of some cancers.
Taking certain medications can lead to night sweats, even somethign as simple as aspirin or acetaminophen.
Sometimes low blood glucose can cause sweating.
Sweating or flushing can be seen with several hormone disorders, including pheochromocytoma, carcinoid syndrome, and hyperthyroidism.
Also, neurologic conditions including autonomic dysreflexia, post-traumatic syringomyelia, stroke, and autonomic neuropathy may cause increased sweating and possibly lead to night sweats.

Sometimes that happens to me. It could be, simply, that you are (we are) changing. A man's body goes through some changes around our age. Maybe night sweats are a symptom of those changes.

Still, check it out with a doctor to be 100% certain.

I wish I knew. I know that they always say night sweats are a sign of something wrong, but I have them and my doctors always seem to ignore this fact. It seems to have just happen since I became a senior citizen and so just might be a sign of aging.

It could be psychological; IE., the nightmares cause the sweating. However some infections are known to cause night sweats, and night sweats can be associated with vivid dreams or nightmares.

Night sweats are a symptom of TB, do u have other symptoms such as a persistent cough, lethargy, tiredness etc, or have u recently been down with fever or a cold? if so get yourself checked out by a doctor.

You may be eating too late at night or you have high blood pressure and don't know it.
Another possibility is that your going through male menopause.Not as serious as the female variety but can be annoying.
You may want to see a Dr. if it continues

Night sweats can indicate HIV infection, and many other problems. See a doctor and have some blood tests done.

Male menopause. Don't laugh!!! I'm serious. Men go through hormonal changes at a certain age the same as women do. Only with women they call it menopause and with men they call it a mid-life crisis haha. See your physician and have him check your hormone levels. It may be that you need to get testosterone injections.
