89 chev blz ing sw has locked , but is able to turn backward ...cant start?

switch can go in acc but wont go to the on or start position nor woll the gear shift lever move

you probably need a new tumbler the thing the key slides in to. the switch is activated by the tumbler, don't confuse the 2

Try shaking the steering wheel back and forth,while turning the key to start, if that don't work,Sounds like you need to change the ignition switch,something may have broke in the steering coluum.

a good locksmith will change the ignition out for around 75$
