They just love giving out homework. The point of school is to learn and why they give homework is because its there job... they get paid for that.

Depends on the teacher. Some give it out of spite, some give it because they take there job seriously and give homework out of the enrichment it gives, or some give it because that is the only way to get the assignment done. If they gave it to you over the holiday, they are ridiculously rude and I would let them know that.

it's the teachers job to make you do as much work as possible.
doing the work is how you learn.
i don't believe in excessive homework, either.
