WHY, why, why does a candidate's skin color, race, sexual orientation, gender, hair color, eye color, religion or any of that matter? WHY?
It is about the issues, people. Who can lead our country in the direction we want it to go? Who has the best plan? Who has the most experience? That is what should matter.

You should have added 'or a woman" because women stand about as much chance as a gay person would to be elected to the presidency. Too many "religious' types abound (who feel that only men should rule in the home and in the country) Too many ignorant people who still think that a woman's hormones would put us at risk of war-causing decisions every month if a woman was president. And probably an equal number who just feel that women can't do it.
As hard as it would be for blacks to overcome the prejudice directed at them, if our choices were for a woman, a gay person and a black..the black person would win.
And you know what? That would be a step up for America. Maybe America making its first mature decision.
But the sad truth is that what the majority really wants is a good looking male with a ready smile and the right words (which do not have to be TRUE words...just as long as they are what most people want to hear)

I don't believe a gay will ever be president. Who did you have in mind, Barney Frank? A black as president has some real possibilities. There are a number of early possibilities, Barak Obama, Condy Rice, Colin Powell, Ophra Winfrey, to name a few.
I believe the democrats are playing into the hands of republicans by playing the race card, because in the final analysis, it will be another white guy that will take the brass ring, and that's OK with me as long as national security is first on his agenda, and the country's economic health is a strong and very close, second.
I will reject any damn fool that says that we must pull out our troops from Iraq. We have a serious enemy in the muslim camp. Until he is properly defeated, we must stay the coarse!

I think the first we will see is a black president. We have come a long way in 100 years. 100 years from now we will be OK with homosexuals, but not mexicans, or some other race that we will choose to oppress... it's called human nature, and it has been going on since the beginning of time. Just read a history book.. that's all we've ever done. Oppress and fight back... over and over again.

All remains to be seen in the future.
Does any of us here have a crystal ball? I don't have one
Speak for the majority of voters? Hardly.
Are we betting people? Maybe.
There are only 2 pools to bet on. Make it three or four.
Make the third one- Status Quo. Same old white guy
Make the fourth- Female.

My guess is that American's already have elected a gay president...but nobody knows yet!
One of the past presidents could easily have been gay.
Why don't we just elect a gay, black, female president?
Hey Condi......

race will not be a factor, but electing a gay would be VERY controversial, and I doubt it will ever happen
a black, if they have ideas that the voters like.
