It must be the only other feeling aside from being tickled that forcibly makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time. (Or, at least, that's how it makes me feel. ~_~) Answers please! I'm painfully curious. =}

It lets you know that something is wrong. When you foot falls asleep, it is basically not getting enough oxygen, usually due to pressure cutting off the blood supply. The needles and pins are there to get your attention, to wake you up if you're asleep and to let you know that if the situation continues, you could be facing tissue death.
