Ok, I just got a Wii for Xmas, and it's all hooked up (except for the Audio-R part of the AV cable, because my TV's too old). I turned the thing on and I got to the screen where it says "Press A to continue," and that worked fine, but when I try to select the language on the next screen nothing happens. I went to the Wii Website and tried all the tips there (the sensor bar is working, cause the first screen worked, but I can't see the little infrared lights through the LCD screen of my videocamera). I emailed Nintendo, but they take upwards of 4 to 5 days to reply, and I don't want to wait that long. Has anyone else come up against this problem and gotten it to work?? Please help me! ;-(

try rebooting it and press a when you hit that screen again.

It might be an issue with your sensor bar. Pressing "A" on the WiiRemote doesn't require the IR from the sensor bar.

This may sound crazy, but light two candles and place one on each side of your TV set. This will emit a light that should allow you to use your WiiMote for setup purposes.

If this allows you to complete the setup, test your system out again with just the sensor bar. If it works, great...if not, you may need to give Nintendo a call (1-800-255-3700) for further help.

The fact that you can't see the IR lights using a digital video camera tells me that your sensor bar is likely defective, but the candle trick may, at the very least, allow you to complete setup and possibly get some limited gaming in while you settle things with Customer Service.

Hope this helps.
