'cause the vatican is the legal mafia & they figure why not take more advantage on a holy day since people might actualy do it without question due to what the day means

Well the first collection for the church is for a lot of things...it pays for hydro, candles, expenses for the parish hall, books, etc.
The second collection and they have them many times and usually announce them well in advance at previous masses, is for an organization...can be from anything like victims of New Orleans to Share Life to some visiting priest collecting for an orphanage or AIDS ridden children in Africa etc.
It's terrible how judgmental some people are when it's easy for them to be so rude. Wait till they are dying and begging for help. They will kiss the feet of those they sneer on...those silly blind un-know-it-alls.

I am not Catholic, but our church had a fund or collection for regular church things and on or over Christmas alsoi took in a specfic collection to send to a charity or charitable program and it was always in the church pp. or mentioned or both. That way it was your own choice. Happy Holiday season!

LOL Churches wanna make sure you give all your money to GOD. I belong to a baptist church and they do 3 offerings. 1 is for the general fund, one for the homeless or needy and one for the building fund for future improvments. I give to the genreal fund only. church is too damn expensive lol.
