i think we need some more symptoms. Is it when on the net? Is it specifically when on yahoo answers? You should pull up your task manager and go to the processes tab, see what all is running and what is taking up the most memory. Do your hard drives make a funny noise when this happens? If so, maybe your drives are screwed up. As others have said, could be a heating/cooling problem. Makes sure the exausts on your tower isnt smothered.

With only that to go on, I'll say it sounds like a heat problem, see what your temperatures are in Hardware Monitor, check your fans, make sure they're running and free of dust.

I bet you have win98 dont you... if you do then there is nothin you can do... winXP doesnt seem to hang up for me at all and Iv been able to get it to boot up for a long time now in 20 seconds.
