You could have them together if you wanted to, but it could provoke resentment on issues such as one baby getting much better presents, one baby getting lovely pink or blue while the other gets green.... the other mother may also not have enough time to truly decide what she would like to receive. If you two believe you are beyond those issues, then go ahead.

But if your only issues is lack of money, there are many ways that you can each throw your own cheap party in your home. If you have a loving and supportive family, they would be happy to bring dishes for the guests (I know my family always binds together in this way to help expecting women). There are also many wonderful websites that you can use to download cheap and easy baby shower games. They will often have games where you can just print the needed materials.

You can go to a party supply store and spend $20 on decorations and just decorate the primary room you will use. The two of you can stick together and each make the cake for the other. If you cannot afford prizes for the games, you can make a ton of cookies or ask Yahoo!Answers for other super cheap ideas.

In short :) if you want to party together, and if you will both be happy, go for it. If you would prefer to have separate parties and enjoy your special days, you can find cheap ways to achieve this as well.

Good luck and Congratulations!

She should wait until she is at least four months along until she has her shower. In the first trimester the risk of miscarriage, especially in a first pregnancy, is high. She would be doubly depressed to have a baby shower with all sorts of baby things and then go on to have a miscarriage. My personal preference for a baby shower is anytime in the third trimester when if a baby is born, he/she will survive.

It probably wouldn't be appropriate since the due dates are so far apart. Why not each just have a small baby shower? Perhaps you could suggest to whomever is planning your shower that they throw a potluck or something. Just an idea. Good luck!

I don't think its a good idea. You should have separate ones so that way no one gets jealous. I know when I was pregnant I wanted full attention on me, and I will admit that. At my baby shower I felt like it was all about me and my new baby! I don't think its a good idea to have them at the same time. Guests will feel that they have to get the same gifts or make things as fair as passable. Good luck!

No reason why not. There are lots of things you can get at a baby shower that aren't gender specific. Have a good time!

It is as appropriate as me and my sister in law taking a shower together. :) Although it is more convenient and much cheaper (the joint baby shower, of course), conflicts are usually common in this kind of events. I would go with having separate baby showers but it's your decision...
