Well, I've had a REALLY bad experience with cockroaches when I was young so I'm scared of them. I mean, like, they have creepy little legs that stick to you and compared to most insects they're just freakin' BIG. O.O Not to mention that they eat and walk over dirty things and there were some rumors that they walk into people's mouths when those people are asleep.
And rats I'm not really scared of becuz the first time I encountered one in the wild was kinda wierd becuz I thought it was a hedgehog for some reason. -_-" But again, I'm sort of scared of them becuz of their sharp, yellow teeth that carry rabbis and will get you very sick if they bite you. Plus, their fur is kinda full of dirt and bacteria.

Neither.
I can effectively kill cockroaches with a mixture of products called Demon WP and Nylar. These not only kill roaches, but sterilize those that remain so that they don't reproduce.
Rats can be avoided by making sure that you have fixed any exclusionary issues with your home. That is, fix any entrance points that a rat can get through that are the size of a quarter or more. If, by chance, a rat does get into your house, a snap-trap baited with peanut butter will do the trick.
Once you kill the rats and roaches, they are nothing to be afraid of!

I would rather face a cockroach than a rat. Cockroaches I can step on to kill. A rat is bigger and meaner. You need at least a shovel to hit a rat with and have half a chance of killing it with one blow.

Mice/Rats are nasty. I mean they're cute to look at, but they just get into everything and poop everywhere and they can cause disease. Cockroaches are just as annoying because they don't poop everywhere, but they just crawl all over your stuff and it makes me feel personally dirty (who knows where those cockroaches have been). I know killing a mice is sad ( I feel guilty) but I do it because I don't want to go out and let them loose then they go into someone else's house and cause the same mess/problems or worse come back to my place.

I'm not afraid of rodents or insects but am deathly afraid of rats. A mouse doesn't bother me but rats have teeth that point back so if they bit you and you tried to pull them off they could cause some real damage. I've heard they are aggressive and will bite and able to climb most things. My neighbor had them and my mom warned us as kids about them and that might have triggered my fear. I'm not afraid of roaches but I don't like them. Earwigs are the only real insect I fear.

Well, cockroaches are pretty disgusting-looking, but then again so are rats!
Both are nasty creatures. I am not actually afraid of either, but I prefer not to have any contact w/them!!

It depends on what kind of rats we're talking about. If you mean wild , street rats, i'm more scared of them.
I like pet rats though, very nice creatures!
