Well i have just turned 13 like a week ago and i started my period when i was 11. Ever scince i was very little i have loved swimming and scince i was 12 i have been a competitive swimmer like swimming for the countys and my club. The problem is my period. I asked my mum weather i could use tampons but she thinks i am too young,, she says that i should just use it as time of swimming but i swim three times a week and it really affects my training when i dont go!

Buy them anyway and use them only when going to training

Younger girls can find tampons uncomfortable because they are designed for women's bodies. I found a link for a kids health website and put the link below for you to see what they say about it. Some people feel tampons should not be used by young girls because they might penetrate too deep and cause problems. But that's not always the case. Check the info on the website. Get all the info you can and if you do use them, follow all the instructions thoroughly and use smaller sized ones just to be safe.

Well, if you can't wear tampons, I'd say you were kind of out of luck. Talk to your mom again and maybe get some of the slimmer ones. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about it with your mom, that way you could both get their opinion. Good luck on your swimming!

Umm Thats A Tough One.. But Usually The Blood Stops When You Go In Water.. But You Cant Be Sure..

Using tampons will not hurt you. Also keep in mind that when you are in water the bleeding stops.

use a tampon...ur never too young, unless ur just really irresponsible. a good starter tampon is the tampax pearl plastic, they're amazing. but u really need to be good about changing it tho

There is no reason why you can't use tampons, unless you have some medical condition that prevents you.
