Goto my computer and get a list of hardware installed, find out which sound card you have installed. You can then check to see if you have the proper driver installed.
If not, goto the manufactuer of your sound cards website and they should have a driver download for you.
Hope this helps, if not, add a detail to your question for further assistance.

it may have helped in case you indicated what operating equipment you're utilizing. i will anticipate VISTA and if so, bypass to regulate Panel and decide gadget manager (DM) from the record. enable DM develop its alphabetized record. lower than 'Sound,Video and recreation Controllers' you need to work out the call of your sound card. What you'd be doing is checking to work out in case your card is "on" in software. this would influence both the audio equipment and the headphones as both get the sound from this card. Double-click that line and its 'houses' window might want to arise. The initial tab is the 'known' one and it many times states that the gadget is operating acceptable. If it isn't (and that i trust that on your case it isn't) bypass to the tab marked 'motive force' . interior the bottom 0.5 of the window that seems there should be 5 'buttons'. you've the favor to make confident the fourth from the right shows 'Disable' (meaning your gadget is enabled). If it says 'enable' then your card is disabled and examine to enable it with the help of clicking that button. If that is your difficulty, then you extremely would wisely ask your self why the cardboard replaced into disabled once you probably did not disable it. large question, as I wondered that too at the same time as it befell to me. it kind of feels to be a periodic quirk of VISTA for causes I have not started to appreciate.
