I'm 17, and my parents are having family over for the New Year. My cousins are probably going to stay in my room, so me and my sister are going to stay in a nearby hotel. My parents are in quite poor health at the moment and can't book it up, so will I be able to book a hotel room for myself for me and my sister (16)??
Also, will I be able to pay in cash (as opposed to credit card/cheque)?

I do look 18 though (can get served for alcohol etc). And I live in the UK (not the US). Would they ask for ID?

I would imaging for the same reason that you have to be over 21 to rent a car. There's a certain amount or responsibility that is implied with age.
And if there were damages to the room, I don't know if they could legally pursue a minor. And maybe there is an issue with parental consent to even be in a hotel room .
They take cash, but you usually have tio hold the room with a credit or debit card.

You're not too young to be having sex. But anyway, A hotel? Noo! Why don't you get a house, if you haven't got enough money, get a flat to start with, because a hotel is going to be sooo much more costly in the long run, also they won't let you stay forever, I don't think you'll have a problem staying there, It's jus the fact of a waste of money :}. If you get your own place, It's better because then you don't have strangers an stuff, you have your own room space :)

I doubt that a hotel will book a room for anyone that age. These day's most hotels require a credit card to even be considered for a room.
Good luck

In most states you must be 18 and you can pay cash at some motels, but you have to have a credit or debit card to register for the room.

you can pay in cash, but you, as a minor , cannot book the hotel, have your parents call the hotel and book it for you,, or if your cousins are staying in your room, would that mean an aunt and/or uncle is visiting, if so, they can take you over and sign for the hotel,,,,,, you would just need to go ahead and book it in advance,, have your parents do that,, or your aunt/uncle call and do that

I believe that you would have to be of legal adult age to do so (age varies with each state). You can pay cash if you wish.

I think that you have to be 18 for legal reasons. When in doubt, call them up and ask. ; )
