I've never had a really-really good friend, because I often find that folks often put their own image and concerns before everybody else.

Most people aren't good listeners ... they are usually too busy judging or thinking about what they want to say instead of listening to what it is you are saying.

For some sad reason many people feel so invalidated nowadays, everybody is struggling to get their own point across or secure their own piece of the pie.

Someone I can trust that won't stab me in the back.
Someone who I would trust alone in my house with my wife and children (if I had any).
Someone I would be willing to do the same things for.
I would take a bullet for my friends because I know they'd do the same for me. I'd also risk my life for them, and know they'd do the same for me.

I only have a couple that actually meet my criteria, but they're priceless.

some times it is every thing, except having any sexual contacts.
But then again, even sex happens between men and woman friends also.
I guess setting a boundry, ware, if you are being sucked in by being to careing, and you feel very uneasy about it, may be a good sign to start backing away.
