I believe you should tint the wdos. but do stay legal. Some of the new tint out there is called metallic and repels a lot of the sun rays and can be purchased to block 35% of the sun and once it is installed, it will actually look darker since the rear is already privacy tinted. GOOD LUCK, and stay out of jail free.

The windshield cannot be tinted except a very small area at the top. The side windows can't generally be tinted beyond a certain amount, depending on state law. Providing you have 2 outside mirrors, the back windows can be black.
If you go past the allowed rate for your state for both reflectiveness and darkness, you will eventually be stopped and given a fine and have to fix the tint.
Your choice.
The reason for the law is based on safety. If you can't see as you back out at Wal-Mart, you are much more likely to have an accident.

In California tinting the front two windows are illegal. With that being said mine have been tinted to match the factory tint on the rear windows of my Tahoe. In the five years I have had them done I have yet to be harrassed by the cops over it. Although, I am friends with cops that will pull over a car, based on tint alone. It also depends on the car. Will a cop harrass a stock Camry with front tinted windows, most likely not. He will however harass a Tahoe with chrome 22's spinners and loud rap music.

Yep, stay legal. My dad tinted his SUV at the Honda dealer. They told him they could tint it as dark as the rear windows, but he didn't take the risk because cops could pull you over, so he just tinted it lightly. Cops actually don't really pay much attention to window tint unless they're having a bad day and feel like ticketing someone.
My car, on the other hand, is dark as hell. I tinted all my windows so dark that you can't see through them at all. No one's ever pulled me over. I would take the risk.
