I personally think that the ipod nano is better because it holds more songs and looks really pretty but the ipod shuffle isn't bad. If you already feel that you are comfortable with your ipod shuffle then keep it!

Get a Nano. They hold pictures, have actual screens, and are actually very nice. You also can still have the shuffle option without losing everything else like games and calendars. Shuffles are nice, but if your mom isn't the gadget gal it would be easier for her to use that.

I would upgrade, get a Nano for Everyone. Shuffles are limited to what you can do. I think it is better for both of you.

You should get a nano. They have screens, you can play games, and ou can shuffle songs on the nano anyway

Neno is better than shuffle.
I would give shuffle to Mom and get a new neno (little selfish).
So now decision is yours.
