I think you should call the hospital. Those warning are on the package for a reason.

As a parent of six year olds (twins), I'd treat the fever, but perhaps not be so concerned about the stuffiness until the doctors were involved. If a fever runs too high, it can be trouble, but a stuffy nose does not result in any serious problems.
For the stuffiness, you can get one of those ball syringes and suck out the baby's nose, if it's too bad. Don't do it too often, or it will cause irration in baby's nose. Once every few hours at most.
For the temp, I usually treat if the kid gets above 100.5 with motrin or Tylenol.
As for dosage of motrin or Tylenol, pay attention to the weight vs dosage that's on the package rather than the age. If your child falls within a weight range given on the package, OK. If not, you can estimate dosage better by the weight. So, if your baby is 14 pounds, give him/her half the dosage that a 28 pound kid would get.
You can always estimate LOW. The Motrin will have an impact at half-dosage as well.
Finally, keep an eye on that temp. Get one of those forehead-wand thermometers and check it every couple of hours. If it spikes above 103, you may want to seek medical help more aggressively.

I have 3 kids and my pediatrician told me no medicine before 12 weeks. You could call a hospital (like children's) and ask to talk to a pediatric nurse. My daughter had a cold when she was 6 weeks and they told me to use saline drops. You can buy them or make them yourself.
1 level tsp. salt to 1 cup boiling water.
Boil for 10 minutes, then cool off. 2 drops in each nostril. Use a bulb syringe to suck it out. Use it whenever she is stuffy.
It dries it up so they can breathe. Works pretty good. Regular Tylenol is not going to do anything and she is too young for a cold medicine. If she has a fever they will have you bring her in. They might have you bring her in since she is coughing. My daughter just had the stuffy nose. Good Luck!
Also screw the person that called you an idiot! So ridiculous. There is nothign wrong with calling first to see what they say. If it is just a cold there is nothing a hospital can do for the baby other than poke at her and upset her more. Just call and get a nurse on the phone.

My pediatrician always said to only give Infant's Tylenol to babies under six months. I'd follow that advice just to be safe.
By the way, Motrin and Advil are exactly the same thing. They're both ibuprophen. I believe neither is good for a young baby. Stick to Tylenol until you speak with a doctor. If he/she gets a fever, bring the baby right to the ER.

NO WAY!!!
any sick baby under 8 weeks has to go to the hospital!
aspirin(advil), decongestants(pedia care, robitussin, triaminic) and ibuprofen(motrim0 are intedned for any baby older than 8 weeks (2 ms or older) they can seriously harm a younger baby. see ur pediatrician right away!
if you want to help a congested nose...get saline drops and a bulb syringe...put one squirt of saline up each nostril and then suck out the snot. or get a humidifier in the baby's room, have the baby sleep in the car seat at an almost upright position so the congestion stays away from its head, so he can breathe, but dont give medications.

For your childs safety call a hospital and ask for thier advice..
Sometimes they will not tell you anything over the phone and have you briing the baby to the ER which would probably be your best bet with a baby that young.. Babies can develope Pneumonia..

IF A BABY THAT YOUNG HAS A FEVER YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY!!! If your pediatrician's office isn't open, get to an emergency room. Now.
Your baby is too young to give ANY medication without asking the doctor first.

my son is 7 1/2 weeks and he is doing the same congestion and cough with little runny nose.... no do not give meds to him hes too little. i called my pediatrician on Sat. to find out what to do and this is what he told me....
1) if he gets a fever over 100.5 go to the ER its not safe for little ones.
2) get little noses decongestant drops and drop in nose 3 times a day for 3 days
3) vicks vapor rub on inside of his shirt not on his skin a few times a day
4) get a cool mist vaporizer and put it next to his bed (you can get the vicks liquid to go in it also)
5) get johnson and johnson medicated baby bath and bathe him in it 2 times a day
If you do this it will start to loosten it all up and he will be fine in a few days!!!! mine is feeling better already.

i'm not a large fan of ibprofen for basically 2 yrs, yet its late and something at this aspect sounds solid, correct? supply him the recommended dose and that i'm particular he will be fantastic. basically possibly bypass out and get tylenol the following day to maintain handy. I even haven't any rationalization for this except its what i have continuously done with my little ones. i respect tylenol and easily use motrin for prime fevers.
