It depends on the store policy. Cannot be reliable answered here without the store's name, your location, the price you paid, the object, and the date it was purchased. A store's policy dictates the answer. There are items you can't return no matter what (really personal clothing items).

Not if you have a gift receipt. How could they expect you to return something that someone else bought you.. You can't have their card. If you were the one who bought the gift they will probably ask if you have the card it was purchased on, if not some places will give you cash, but most will either allow an exchange or put money on a gift card for their store and give that to you. =)

it depends on how the purchase was processed. if a PIN number was used, that money was immediately debited, and they will give back cash. if the card was used without the PIN then it is just another credit transaction and the money will go back to the card. even in this case, they may not need to swipe the card to put the money back on it.

If it's an exchange for a size/color they should just give you another one with no hassle.

If you want money back in the case of a refund, you can request cash but it depends on store policy. Some have a limit on what they give back as cash.

depends where it was purchased - at a minimum you can get a store credit - good luck!
