I usually take mine down on New Year's Eve so I can get off to a clean, fresh start for the new year.

The 12 days of Christmas are observed from December 25th to January 5th. Then the tree is taken down on January 6th. But if the tree is dry and a hazard, by all means, take it down.

We take our artificial tree down between Christmas and New Year's. However, if you have a real tree, the best thing is to take it down when the needles start to fall. That means the tree is drying out and becomes a fire hazard.

Other than that, whenever you feel like removing it! (wouldn't recommend July though... ;) )

January 6th is the official end of the Christmas observance so I would suggest you aim for January 7th. Since it is on a week-end it would be most convenient. If you have a real tree and it is shedding needles, NOW is the time. It's a fire hazard.

My family would wait until after "Little Christmas" which is January 6th. Little Christmas is the religious observation of the Epiphany.

We've left it up after new years, but generally it's customary to use the first day of the year to dismantle trees and other decorations. That is if you're not too hung over... ;-)

I always take the tree to our New Year's celebration..... and torch it.

5-7 trees going up at once is quite a blaze.

I was looking online tonight just for a general guideline and found this source which says decorations should be taken down no later than January 5th to be prepared for Epiphany on the 6th.
