i just got a nike free. and i want to keep it for a long time. how do i clean it without ruining the color and the shoe itself. thanks!

yes. a toothbrush and detergent. but how do i get the detergent off the shoes. do i let it dry there? thnx.

Just put them in the washing machine and see the results.

Use the toothebrush and detergent like you were doing, run the parts under water, but not to much. Or take a damp wash cloth to take the detergent off. I do both.

Go to a show store. There are some great products that you spray on just for cleaning tennis shoes.
or you can buy use shout or oxyclean and wash them in the washing machine. You won't harm them

There is some shoe cleaning material available in the market. I bought it from Walgreen's but can't remember the name.

go to niketown.com or nikebiz.com they might have the information on one of those websites if not call the numbers on that site and it should send you to a nike customer service rep at their call center and they should be able to answer any questions. Goodluck
