divorce doesn't cost as much as you think. I paid $500 for mine - made my ex pay for half - make sure you put that in your agreement. No - living together in the same house does not constitute seperation. Have to have seperate residences from each other. Good luck.

If he's not divorced, then he's married. Right now, at this very second, he could go back to his wife, and they would be just as married as he ever was. And if he is a married person ... well .. go figure, about the adultry. When a person truly wants a divorce, they get one. It does not matter if the couple lives apart, or even legally separated ... they are still married. Also - many people say they are legally separated - when in all actuality, their State may not even have legal separation ... each State law is different with their laws of legality.

i see a lot of ppl do this...but "legally" in the laws opinion...no you are not considered legally separated.
many that have this arrangement move into separate rooms and split everthing so that its more like a room mate situation. most i know in this arrangement date other people. when they can afford the fees for a divorce and a place of their own they file for the divorce. that way when they start the divorce they are "legally" separated b/c they will have their own place.
but keep this in mind as well.....uncontested divorces can cost anywhere from $100-1500 (sometimes very less than $500) so it shouldnt take you long to "afford" one

Only if you don't mind committing purjury. One of the things they will ask you is if you have been cohabitating during the time from the legal seperation to the final divorce proceedings. Some states even require that a third party testifies to that also

yes, i know quite a few people that are separated even divorced but have separate rooms and live in the same house......some for financial reasons, some for the children, but what ever the reason is they do it and just respect each other by keeping their private lives private and not bringing anyone home.

If you are willing to live together, then a divorce should cost you guys almost nothing. If your willing to divorce and not fight over items and make it more complicated, then it should be very easy to get a cheap divorce. But as for living together, its ok, but I can see problems when one or both of you start bringing people home??????

So, let me get this straight. You don't want to be married to him anymore, but you don't mind living with him? Strange.....
How are you going to get legally separated if you cannot afford a divorce?

I have known a few people to do this----they couldnt afford to go it on their own so they legalized everything but stayed under the same roof as "roommates". It worked out ok for them.

Yes, many couples do this. Especially if they have children together or extreme financial hardship. Many sleep in different rooms and share only common areas. Best wishes!
