Manju is an Indian given name. It is primarily given to females, although males in South India can also carry the name. The name means "pleasing" or "sweet".
In the southern part of India (especially in Karnataka), Manju is very common name for both males and females. Manju is a nickname of Manjunatha (male) or Manjula (female) and hence you cannot say whether Manju is a male or female name without more information. Manju literally means "mist" or "fog" and Manjula means "pleasing" or "melodious" where Manjunatha means "lord of mist" or "pleasing lord".
Both the male and female versions of the name Manju are originated by the deity Sri Manjunatha Swamy residing at the temple of Dharmasthala. The place Dharmasthala and the temple are very popular in Karnataka and it is one of the sacred places in South India very well known to all pious people. Millions of people visit this temple every year and the pilgrims are provided with free food and shelter as charity is a synonym to Dharmasthala. Hence the name Manju (Manjunatha or Manjula) is very common among the people in South India. The mountains seem covered by mist or fog most of the year where this temple is located and hence the name of this deity is Manju natha meaning "Lord of Mist".
In Kerala, Manju is a female name and means "beautiful" or "pleasing". It means "manasil santhosham janippikkunnaval" ("she who creates happiness in someone's mind or heart"). Manas means "mind"/"heart" and santhosham means "happiness". The word equivalent to "fog"/"mist" in Malayalam is also manju, but pronounced differently. There is no relation between these two words. The name Manju is pronounced as manjju and other word is pronounced as manjhu (fog).-

Majnu is name from India. There is a pair Lalia and Majnu. They are same as Romeo and Juliet (Juliet & Remeo to be precise).
Nowadays, when someone goes mad in love of a girl then that guy is called "Majnu" and Majnu (from Lalia and Majnu fame) became mad man in love of Laila.
