I have done a abc book for my god daughter... my first attempt at scrapping I might add.... every one thinks it turned out really pretty...although I was not really satisfied... I tried to match my stock paper and embelishments to colors in my pictures.... but I did not do a very good job of matching my pages next to each other. I want to do a album with my familys old black and whites.... so what colors should I use. I have heard I should stick with brown tones... tans and yellows. So what to you think I need some advice please.

Hey sherrelu3...,

This is you and your God Daughter's scrap book, and it is essentially an art project. You're thoughts on the colors are what matters. If you know she prefers a particular color, go with it. Then look at the color wheel, and pick a complimentary color (opposite side of the wheel). The two complimentary colors would create a gray in the mind, so, be neutral.

Bright colors would be great as accents to b&w photos, especially since I'm guessing your goddaughter is fairly young. You can easily stick with bright primaries (red, yellow, blue) and secondaries (orange, green, purple) without using shaded or muted versions and anything you stick beside the others should work fine, just as a rainbow does.

The trouble will come when you mix muted or shaded colors together with other hues. Then you have to know what looks good from an artist's eye. Or pick two complementary colors (red and green, blue and orange, yellow and purple) and use only those colors in varying shades. That should work, as well.
