Me and this girl are planning on getting married after college. We would be marrying sooner, but it seems best to wait. I haven't ever called her my girlfriend (We didn't date, we courted Neither of us have ever dated anyone else. Basic difference is that we weren't looking for a romantical relationship. We were just good friends for the longest time. Then, after we realized there was mutual interest, we started talking about where the relationship would go)

I haven't formally proposed and don't have a ring for her. We aren't even picking a date or talking about plans because it's still another 4-5 years away.

To call her my girlfriend underemphizises the commitment we have made. But it doesn't seem right to call her my fiance or say that we are engaged.

It is really awkward introducing her to friends and family without something to call her. Is there something that gives the best of both worlds?

We have already talked about it. She really dislike the whole girlfriend/boyfriend thing. She is just as lost as I am as far as what to refer to it as.

Everyone who knows us calls her my girlfriend because they see us holding hands, but they don't know about the deeper commitment.

Gee-wiz! I can only say that you really put this girl on a pedestal-and to say the least! Call her by her name and introduce her that way--do you have a special name you call her? maybe you ought to just propose to her and call her your fiance--afterall--you will end up married-right?

Well, the best thing is to talk to he girl..Perhaps it's better to make things clear about it, I mean if that's your plan then don't you want to go on a date to see how things would start and then decide things over after.. As you say there's mututal interest but why dont you talk things out about, I'm sure it could help with your problem on something to call her..

First of all, congratulations on being in such a steady and well grounded relationship. I believe what you have is called courtship (like in the olden days). You can refer her as your future wife, or your special girl or your partner.

If you are so sure about your deep commitment, why not make it official and propose to her with an engagement ring. Then you can tell ppl she is your fiancee..........problem solved.

The best way to introduce her is as your friend. Basically, that's what you are to one another--close friends.

Well you could call her your future life partner or future fiancee. How about just saying her name and then, "She and I are very special friends."
