Would it not be insane to bring an alien bacteria to Earth without knowing the long term consequences of such an action?

Would we have another pandemic on our hands?

You watch too much sci fi. Alien bactacia enter our atmosphere every day. Almost invariably, they find our planet inhospitable and ultimately die off. Now, of the few that survive, there may be one genuine badass that creates some disease, but my point is you can't do anything about it.

At least the life being brought back to Earth in a spacecraft is arriving in a controlled manner. And, the number of life forms brought back is infinitesimal compared to the number that arrive without our knowledge.

I really dought that anyone would do such a thing. The people in space probably wouldn't even tell everyone they found something on mars right away. Also the chances of them finding a substance that can live on mars and bringing it to earth would be an ignorant move. We cant live on mars the substance can that could really mess up everything thats going down on earth.

I think NASA has a very strict quarantine procedure that even the moon astronauts had to go through. They're not idiots there at NASA.... I would hope.
