If you are going for the multimedia, gaming, fooling around experience, get the Intel Core Duo...if you are serious, for business reasons and Microsoft Office, then get the Intel Core Duo...either way, the Intel works better than the AMD64 x2...i've seen the both of them run side by side and the Intel Core Duo has an advantage...the Intel runs more efficiently, runs a lot cooler, and can multitask better...if you can get your hands on one, get the Intel Core 2 Duo, which is even more efficient than the Core Duo...so to answer your question: Intel

check out the amd website. failing that do a google search for independant tests on performance.
Personally though I never use anything but AMD in my systems for stability performance and reliability that is why i use AMD.
intel do make an adequate processor. it comes down to what you want to do with your computer. is you want a good word processor and workhorse that is not much good for gaming or multimedia tasks then go with intel. but if you want a processor that is great at everything then AMD wins hands down.
an example i have a tv tuner card in my system designed for a 2.2Ghz CPU minimum however my AMD chip only runs at 2.Ghz as standard, and when the tuner is working the processor hardly notices the card is working. ok i admit i get a little jump every minute or so but i think that could be either a weak signal in this area or a config error.
ok i'm talking Sempron 3400 but the principal is the same AMD are the BEST processors on the market today in my opinion.
intel are inherantly cheaper by default in the end the choice has to be yours.

Intel Core Duo is much faster. I have one of each and the Intel blows away the AMD Turion64 x 2.

Are you asking for an opinion or an answer? First off, different processors do different things. Is it that you want to play games or process databases? For gaming, I'd probably go with the AMD. On the other hand, if I was looking for a dabase server, I'd go with the Intel. I hope this helps because no matter what answer you get, it will be an opinion.

It really depends on what you will use them for. For simply personal use, with some SAP, you may be fine with either. If you are going to go more multimedia, and play games, watch movies, and run other large applications, you may want to lean towards the Intel Core Duo. Check out both companies' websites for more information.
Hope this helps, and happy holidays!
