Well, Some states require that you take education courses, others do not. If you are a Polisci Major you can always minor in Education.
You could also go the course you have been going and enroll in an Alternative Education Program at a Cost or at a Teaching commitment of r something like 3 yrs.
I simply earned my Degree, BA in Social Science, I went to TX and enrolled in an Alternative Education program and took the Test for EC-4 and I was going to take the exam for Social Studies but I moved. In my present State there was a Glut of SS teachers, I took some Science classes Undergrad and took that exam and passed, Now I'm a Science Teacher, My state only requires that I have a mentor.
It is better to talk to someone from a school district, there are always advantages and loopholes to learn from them. BOE sites are usually bland.
Good luck

You need to get a teaching degree in the Social Science area. That is the smart way to go. Then you take your states teaching exam to obtain your certificate.
However, there are other ways. I was a Poli. Sci. and Communications major. I didn't want to teach but then when I graduated I married my husband who is from another country. We moved to Central America and I got a teaching job in a private American School (we only needed a bachelors degree... not necessarily in education). I teach 8th grade English now and have for more than 10 years. I got my teaching certificate in an alternate route, by experience and getting my masters in teaching.
Some states, like Florida, you can get a Temporary teaching certificate for just having a B.A. or B.S. in a teaching field. Teachers are in high demand in this state. Later you would have to take the Teaching exam to obtain the professional certificate.
Hope this helps and good luck.

You need to major in the School of Education, most likely, although with secondary school, the rule may be to take your major in social sciences but take the required courses in Education to receive a teaching certificate. I believe the rules for the teaching certificate vary from state to state, but the School of Education will certainly have the latest details on what is involved.
You will probably also have to do some student teaching, and you will probably have to take courses in education later on to "keep current" in order to keep on working as a teacher.
The most important thing you must remember about getting a teaching credential is that essentially all public schools are now unionized. That means if you work for a public school, with all its bureaucracy and frustrating rules, you will also be working for a union, with all its bureaucracy and frustrating rules. Are you really ready for that, or will you go to teaching in private or parochial schools?

You would need to go back like I did and either enter a TCP - Teacher Certification Program or some type of Master's in Education program. It would be quicker for you to get the education classes done while you are still working on your BA in Poly Sci. That's my thought.
Good Luck!!!

the main suitable ingredient is to touch the school district the place you go with for to show. the skill of paying for a job would variety from district to district. In Hawaii, the place I show, it starts with a mass interview. that's the place all of the hot instructors are interviewed and placed interior the district they're using for. Then your call is going into this record of applicants. while a school has an open place, the dep. of training selects some applicants from this record and provides it to the important. The important then interviews the candidate as quickly as greater. for that reason the important makes the final determination whether you're employed or no longer. on occasion, the candidate would detect a school with an beginning off themselves and request to be interviewed via the important directly. the competition for a given place isn't lots between the hot hires, yet greater between the tenured instructors that would bypass faculties. enable says you're attempting to paintings at city college, grade 3. there is an beginning off. You bypass in for an interview, yet on the comparable time 4 different instructors from around the state additionally are using to bypass into that place. greater desirable than probably a tenure instructor gets that place. meanwhile your call is on the record by using mass interviewing. you don't get to show at city college yet there is an beginning off at Rural city college grade 5. The important calls you for an interview and you bypass in. however this college isn't your first decision, that's cautioned you're taking that pastime while provided. After your probationary time (of two years in Hawaii), you're tenured and at the instant are able to word at a distinctive college. there is an beginning off at city college and you word. In otherwords, that's a troublesome technique to finally get to the school you go with for to show at. First time instructors not often get to show the place they choose for of their first few years. Get your foot interior the door first and pass faculties as quickly as you're tenured. do no longer forget approximately to get carry of your license to show in that school district. you could ask fellow instructors or touch the school district directly. good luck!
