i got sims 2 pets for xmas but its a pc dvd rom, when i play it my computer screen turns off and says no signal but the game is still on and the screen is black. have i got the wrong disk? should i have pc cd rom? ?

no one is for cd format the other is for dvd

No... just think of these like your home DVD player that you use for your TV.

DVD ROMs allow a computer user to play DVD content on that computer. It also will allow the computer user to play CD content on that computer.

CD ROMs will only allow you to play CD content on your computer... I would go with the DVD ROM or a DVD +-RW

They are different. Problems reading and writing CDs are common. In many cases, the problem cn be solved by checking the PC with free software, hardware modifications and cleaning the CD drive. I found the information at http://fixit.in/cdrdrive.html useful.

cd rom is a drive that reads cd's (i.e. music, games, programs)
dvd rom reads cds and dvds
