the major categories are
the dive bomber = airplanes like the stuka ( ju 87 ), the Douglass dauntless , the typhoon etc.
the fighter( bomber) = the fw 190, me109, spitfire, mustang, hurricane, hellcat, mosquito, zero,etc.
the bomber = b17, Lancaster, liberator, wellington, ju 88, me 110, etc.
also airplanes used for reconsigns, transport ( Dakota, ju 52 )

to find out play blazing angels they have the most complete list of ww2 planes I've seen they even have the colors of the planes flown by regular pilots and by aces
