how can i get rid of gas logs for a fire place?

If it's a real fireplace, just remove the gas logs, cap-off the gas line, and remove the gas source from the line. You're ready to go.

Either sell them in a garage sale, put them outside on the sidewalk with a sign indicating "free, take me" or throw them in the trash....

Set them out by the street with a for sale sign, someone will steal them.
