I am not positive that I understand your question.
What kiddo said is right, if your problem is to graphically represent the fossils in the core log.
Perhaps your question is different - you want to know how to study fossils from a drill core. Well, you cannot study or identify a fossil, even a macrofossil, without breaking the core. You have to use a core splitter to cut the particular portion of the core hosting the fossils. Then you have to carefully separate the fossils with the help of fine chisels and other tools - which needs time, patience and delicacy.

If you are looking at drill cores, most companies have special symbols they use to indicate different kinds of fossils when they do core logging. Otherwise just pick up a fossil guidebook or paleo textbook-assuming you don't need a lot of detail- and do the basics. Prothero has a good paleo textbook for general fossil information.
