My baby is 6mo. He is badly constipated, it is continuing for a month. He always cries and he gets anal fissure. I sometimes use glycerin supposotories, I wonder how many times per week is considered too much, or how long (month or 2?) is too long? Can I use 10 days in a row so that his stool will be softer and he will not hold back?

how about trying some apple juice or prune juice that will loosen him up. watch out for diaper rash though. the use of suppositories is not recommended for so long besides it will not soften the stool much just make it come out and if the baby has a fissure it will never heal with straining.

Glycerin suppositories are not as addictive as some people make out - they're mild osmotic laxatives - and the safest choice if long-term use is really necessary.
Protocol for using suppositories is - don't use every day unless baby has recurring bouts of pain from constipation; use when he's tried and failed to "do the do" without help.

This not sound right. I used a Glycerin ONE time on my son and we never had to use them again. I would get with my Doctor if this is an on going thing. I have always felt that Constipation is caused by not having enough Liquids, water, fruit juices etc. and I consider Milk a Solid and not a Liquid when it comes to what to drink for moisture.
I would go to the Doctor and have a list of what you giving the baby and HOW much???? Just saying he drink water/juice not tell anything; "How much water/Fruit Juice"?

Don't get the answer from here. You need to be working very closely with your doctor so that you don't injure your baby.

I think your child might be suffering from Hursch-Sprung disease.. I recommend consulting a pediatrician immediately or a pediatric sugeon.
