does the sims 2 season requires the special dvd edition?

Because i have the oringal sims 2 game. and the extenson pack only require the first game. Help me out please

For the sims 2 seasons you will need to have The Sims 2, The Sims 2 Special DVD Edition or The Sims 2 Holiday Edition.

No, it only requires The Sims 2 Original game. It doesn't matter if it's the CD or DVD version.
