I just answered a question from another person about Serbia. Here is the answer from that question.
With the breakup of Yugoslavia after Tito's death, the Serbian forces took a militantly anti-Muslim position and enacted a policy of ethnic cleansing - all Muslim males were subject to be killed, and the women were gang-raped by Serbian armed forces.
Eventually, the former Yugoslavia became a number of independent countries. Within Serbia, there was a sizable number of Muslims, and Serbian forces once again began a campaign of murder, gang-rape, and despoliation of the province of Kosova. In order to stop this genocide, the NATO forces bombed Serbia into submission.
We have many people in the USA who are of Serbian descent and they are Americans. We like them just fine.
As for the country and region of Serbia today and for the past two centuries, the history has been somewhat repellent to Americans' ideals and culture.
Please understand that in America we really don't care what happened hundreds of years ago, we really don't care where your grandfather went to church, we really don't care where you go to church or if you do at all.

It's a cold cold place. Wait a minute, that's Siberia. I don't know much about Serbia except for the war and stuff that were reported in the newspapers.
