Can someone explain how I go about connecting to the internet without a home phone?

You can connect through a cable line going into a cable modem then into your computer. You do have to subscribe to cable internet but it is way faster than dial up.

- phone company installs a phone line. you can use dial-up or DSL (digital subscribers line)
- cable company. request broadband Internet
- wireless. sharing a neighbor's internet access using 802.11 wireless technology.
