Just so you know... I'm not wearing a starfleet uniform and I don't speak Klingon... but I do watch Star Trek from time to time... this parable was told by Chakotay on Voyager:

---
A scorpion was wandering along the bank of the river, wondering how to get to the other side. Suddenly he saw a fox. He asked the fox to take him across the river.
The fox said, "No. If I do that, you'll sting me and I'll drown."
The scorpion assured him, "If I did that, we'd both drown."
The fox thought about it and finally agreed. So the scorpion climbed up on his back and the fox began to swim. But halfway across the river, the scorpion stung him.
As the poison filled his veins, the fox turned to the scorpion and said, "Why did you do that? Now you'll drown too."
"I couldn't help it," said the scorpion. "It's my nature."

The man that killed the wolf knew the wolves weren't at the door but made out that they were so that he could go kill the wolf, now the wolves are taking over and it's all his fault, he should have kept his nose out of their business!

Mm, well this has been an issue here. On one hand, wolves are dangerous predators, if not to humans then to cattle, on the other hand they are beautiful animals, and vital for the ecosystem.

My personal view is, that if packs of wolves are sighted close to habitation and are attacking local cattle, then hunting parties should be organized, and the EU can't stop that because it's not about culling the population but about security.

I'm confident however that we will win this lawsuit if the highest court of EU decides to press the issue. After all, they don't know the least about living among the wolves.

...Or what was this question about? You could be less cryptic next time.

Because the people realised that there had been no wolf at the door, it was a con, but now the attention of wolves from miles around has been attracted and there is no way out.

They didn't see the wolf, so they think that the wolf is just being used as an excuse for killing. Ignorant people.

Because the Wolf was but a dog, and the man who killed it wasn't doing it to help the community, but to make himself appear to have not been the wolf himself.

The issue is not the issue, it's who is in charge. They put their political party ahead of all else. They worship their political party. Their political party is their god.
